Acclaimed Songwriter and Producer Celebrates Four Million Broadcast Performances of “I Do (Cherish You)” and Three Million Broadcast Performances of “We’re In this Love Together”
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – June 1, 2012 – Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) presented Bigger Picture Group’s Chairman and Chief Creative Officer Keith Stegall with Million-Air Certificates on May 31 in recognition of his hit songs “I Do (Cherish You)” – an impressive 4 million broadcast performances to date – and “We’re In This Love Together” – 3 million broadcast performances to date. Written by Stegall and Dan Hill, “I Do (Cherish You)” was recorded in 1998 by country singer Mark Wills and again in 1999 by pop group 98 Degrees. The popular song peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Country Chart and at No. 13 on the Billboard Hot 100. “We’re In This Love Together,” written by Stegall and Roger Murrah was recorded by GRAMMY ® award-winning jazz singer Al Jarreau in 1981 and peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. There have been nearly 40 million total broadcast performances of Stegall’s catalog of music.
“I came to Nashville to do one thing and that was to learn to write songs,” said Stegall. He continued, “I accidentally became a record producer, but I’m always a songwriter at heart.”
BMI’s Vice President of Writer-Publisher Relations Jody Williams presented the certificates to Stegall in a ceremony complete with champagne at Bigger Picture Group’s offices. “Keith has been with BMI since 1979, and I can’t imagine the Nashville music industry without his impact,” said Williams.
